Breast reductionis a breast surgery procedure that restores shape and comfort to breasts that are too large, heavy, or sagging by reducing their size. Patients who undergo breast reduction are generally those who are bothered by breast hypertrophy. This condition is caused by excessive development of breast tissue, with or without excess fat.
Incisions are made in the breasts according to the preoperative markings.
Tissue containing skin, glandular tissue, and fat is removed, and the remaining tissue is repositioned to restore the breast’s shape and contour. At the end of the procedure, drains are placed to remove any accumulated blood.
