The Consultation with the Plastic Surgeon

Yep, I got tricked by Camille Cottin—aka “The Bitch on Canal Plus”—who pretended to be a completely crazy patient! It made me want to write an article for you about that infamous first consultation with a plastic surgeon.

You’ve given careful thought to the cosmetic surgery procedure you’re considering, and often, the consultation requires some preparation beforehand

There are two possible scenarios:

  • Do you have a friend who has already had surgery performed by a plastic surgeon?
  • You know exactly what you want and are waiting for the surgeon to confirm it
  • You have thoroughly prepared for your pre-consultation and have a list of questions to ask the plastic surgeon

Another scenario:

  • you're not sure what to do
  • Would you like a consultation with a plastic surgery specialist to find out if your dream is achievable and how?
  • Have you seen another surgeon recently or a while back, but haven't taken the plunge yet?

My role as a plastic surgeon

  • The plastic surgeon, for their part, is there to listen to your request and provide a technical solution tailored to your physical characteristics. They will gather essential information about you and your medical history, and examine the part of your face or body that will be treated during the procedure. They will likely take photos, and then offer a practical solution to your problem—and this is when you should pay close attention to their advice and recommendations.
  • He will explain the procedure to be performed (implants, liposuction, facelifts, lipofilling, rhinoplasty), the location of the scars, normal post-operative effects, and potential complications. He will discuss the type of anesthesia (local or general) and the blood tests or imaging studies required before the procedure, and will also mention, if applicable, the need to wear a compression garment after the operation.
  • Following this appointment, you will receive a detailed estimate for the procedure. You have a minimum legal waiting period of 15 days before the procedure can be performed. Please take this time seriously to carefully consider the information provided to you during the consultation, which is usually accompanied by the SOFCPRE form summarizing your upcoming procedure.
  • If you have any further questions before making a decision, it may be helpful to schedule another consultation with the plastic surgeon or to ask additional questions via email or through his secretary. Dr. Zwillinger and his team are here to provide you with invaluable assistance in achieving a cosmetic improvement to a problem that bothers you in your daily life.

In the best-case scenario, you’ll choose a surgery date and come in to sign the estimates and informed consent forms; in the worst-case scenario, you’ll act likethe womanon“La Connasse de Canal Plus,”and the appointment will be a failure because of an unrealistic request, combined with a failure to follow the plastic surgeon’s instructions!

Please know that, in any case, I will always remain professional while adding a touch of humor when discussing and addressing your cosmetic concerns.
